As the 17th anniversary of September 11 approaches and it’s the 23rd year since the first World Trade center bombing, I need to share my thoughts.
Nike, I used to love your gear, but I am officially done spending another nickel on your swoosh. Your new ad with Colin Kaepernick is despicable, and deplorable! No wonder you had to out-bid Adidas and Puma to hire this arrogant, uneducated, jobless quarterback to become a shoe salesman, to sell your products that are made in CHINA.
So please explain to your shareholders that “sacrificing everything” idea just doesn’t play out here. While Nike shares will bottom out as true Americans see what a sell out you are. Is the $25,000 charity donation that Colin Kaepernick donated to Assata Shakur who was convicted of Killing New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster sacrificing?
Does Colin Kaepernick, know any name of a young man, woman or child that has been killed in Chicago since September 11, 2001? Or how about just this weekend? or yesterday? Or today? I’m sure he can’t name one Warrior protecting the flag. Can Colin Kaepernick, even name one of the over 200 people killed in Chicago since Memorial Day? How about an easy question of the 54 people shot, and wounded this weekend, please name one:
I believe Chicago has the toughest gun laws in the country. Is it the guns that are used to kill and wound Mothers, Fathers, and Children doing so by themselves? or the people possessing the Illegal guns? Nike: Take your Golden egg superstar Colin Kaepernick, Rev Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Black Lives Matter and start community organizing, and fix Chicago. It is an absolute disgrace.
I’m also thinking the irony is that while I am not privy to the numbers, it’s likely he gained a lucrative Nike contract. So yeah, that whole “sacrificing everything” is insulting to those who really have sacrificed everything. A sacrifice would be if he was doing the promotions for free.
You want to talk about someone in the NFL sacrificing everything? Pat Tillman the NFL starting player, who was NOT benched is a hero! He left the NFL to join the Army and later GAVE HIS LIFE for the country. THAT is sacrificing everything for something you believe in.
How about other warriors? Warriors who will not be on magazine covers, who will not get lucrative contracts and millions of followers from their actions and who have truly sacrificed everything. They did it because they believed in something.
Take it from me, when I say they sacrificed everything, they also sacrificed the lives of their loved ones who will never be the same. THAT is sacrificing everything for something they believe in. Taking a knee, against the flag which has covered the caskets of so many who actually did sacrifice everything for something they believe in? That we all believe in? Well, the irony of your ad … it leaves me speechless. Nike, are you trying to be insulting or just about making money. I assure you this will be a losing deal. We proud Americans will not fall for your poor decision. Nike you are a disgrace: Under Armour will gladly take your lost True American Customers, and they are Made in America.
